George MacLean

Owner / Senior Inspector

George MacLean has worked as a certified home inspector for the past six years and has 26 years of diverse experience in the construction and home improvement industries. Mr. MacLean is well known among homebuyers and real estate professionals for his high ethical standards and professionalism.

Mr. MacLean was co-founder of the Old Bay Path Company in Cambridge, Massachusetts in 1979, which specialized in historic renovations and restorations and also performed design build new home construction throughout New England and New York State. Some of the historic renovation projects he worked on included: Museums, Historical Societies, Contemporary and Early American homes, Barnes, & Utility Buildings. Mr. MacLean relocated to the Washington area in 1988, and has continued serving the Washington Metropolitan community in the building and home inspection industries.

Mr. MacLean's work experience includes foundation restoration and structural repair, replication of architectural details, finish carpentry and custom mill work, general carpentry, roofing with cedar, asphalt, & slate roof application and repair, drywall installation, floor installation and refinishing, job site supervisor, punch out work, masonry & stone work, landscaping & tree maintenance, lot improvement, etc.

As a Home Inspector, Mr. MacLean has represented many clients, identifying and suggesting solutions for various structural, mechanical and electrical problems and deficiencies encountered during home inspections. Mr. MacLean is a member in good standing of the American Society of Home Inspectors and has passed the National Home Inspector Examination ( NHIE ) and the stringent ASHI Standards and Ethics examination. Mr. MacLean is also a member of the National Association of Certified Home Inspectors ( NACHI ) and the Foundation of Real Estate Appraisers ( FREA ).

PERSONAL

On a personal note, Mr. MacLean is an avid lover of animals and is deeply devoted to his Newfoundland & Great Pyrenees dogs and is also involved in various animal charities and rescue groups. Mr. MacLean has been a member of the Colonial Newfoundland Dog Club ( CNC) since 1994. Mr. MacLean is a firm believer in continuing education in the building and home inspection industries and pursues the latest in construction technologies.
